Beyond the Known

The Inner Work of the Therapist

An 8-Day Experiential Leadership Retreat

February 4–12, 2028
Project Inlakech · Jungle near Tulum, Mexico

By invitation only · Limited to 18 participants

Beyond the Horizon

Following the profound gatherings of 2023 and 2026, we are coming together once again.

This third journey was born from something we discovered together in the previous retreats:

When those who spend their lives holding others allow themselves to be held, something unexpected becomes possible.

For eight days, we will live together in the jungle at Project Inlakech.

Not primarily to talk about our work.

But to enter it.

Through our bodies.
Our relationships.
Our resistance.
Our vulnerability.
Our intuition.
Our laughter.
Our silence.
And our presence.

Less talking. More experiencing.

As therapists and facilitators, most of us know how to describe what we feel. We know the language of trauma, attachment, defenses, projection, transference, regulation, and healing.

These are important maps.

But the map is not the territory.

For these eight days, we want to spend more time in the territory.

Through movement, breath, nature, water, music, silence, ritual, bodywork, group process, ancient traditions, rest, laughter, honest encounter, and moments we cannot plan in advance, we will explore what happens when we loosen the identities we know so well and meet one another simply as human beings.

There may be discomfort.

There may be resistance.

There may be moments when we would rather return to the safety of what we already know.

We do not see this as something going wrong.

Sometimes going deeper begins precisely where our familiar strategies stop working.

From Therapist to Participant — and Back Again

One of the foundations of this retreat is reciprocity.

There is no single teacher standing at the front of the room with all the answers.

Every person who joins this circle arrives with years of living, learning, practicing, making mistakes, discovering, questioning, and developing something uniquely their own.

During our time together, each therapist or facilitator will be invited to lead the group and share a piece of their work or their gift.

It may be a therapeutic process.

A movement practice.

A meditation.

An inquiry.

A ritual.

A creative exploration.

Something deeply familiar.

Or something that does not yet have a name.

For a moment, you lead.

Then you return to the circle and allow yourself to be led.

We become one another’s teachers, witnesses, mirrors, and fellow travelers.

This movement between leading and surrendering, knowing and not knowing, holding and being held is at the heart of our journey.

Why We Return

The gatherings of 2023 and 2026 reminded us that something powerful happens when experienced therapists come together without needing to perform expertise.

The conversations become more honest.

The masks become less necessary.

The heart becomes more visible.

And underneath our professional identities, we encounter the person who chose this work in the first place.

Perhaps this is also where a different kind of leadership begins.

Not in having more answers.

But in developing the capacity to remain present when we do not have them.

There will be time to go inward and time to meet one another.

Time in the jungle and cenotes.

Time around the fire.

Time for movement and stillness.

Time for nourishment, integration, celebration, and simply doing nothing.

The retreat will have structure, but it will also breathe.

We want enough form to feel safely held and enough spaciousness for what emerges between the planned moments.

An Invitation

This gathering is intentionally small.

Participation is by invitation only and limited to 18 participants.

It is intended for therapists, trauma-care professionals, and facilitators who have already traveled deeply into their own inner work—and who sense that there is still somewhere further to go.

Not because something is missing.

Because we are alive.

Because we are changing.

Because we are still becoming.

We invite you to come not only with your knowledge, but also with your questions.

Bring the part of you that knows how to lead.

Bring the part that does not know.

Bring your strength.

Your tenderness.

Your resistance.

Your humor.

Your uncertainty.

And bring the gift that only you can bring to the circle.

For eight days, we will meet one another there.

Eight days. A small circle. Less theory. More experience. The courage to be held—and the willingness to go beyond what we already know.
